Miners Senior Lacrosse Club

History

In 2008, the executive of the Miners Lacrosse Club identified the need for a third senior lacrosse team in the greater Edmonton area as more junior lacrosse graduates, who wanted to continue to compete at a high level, were left without a team to play on.

The Miners applied to the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL), and were successful in securing a Senior franchise to add to their Junior A team.

The two teams' lacrosse operations work independantly, with the Senior team drafting and recruiting players from any junior lacrosse team.  In fact the Junior A and Senior teams compete against each other during the course of the RMLL season.

The 2009 season saw the Senior Miners hit the floor for their first year as the RMLL's sixth senior team, joining the Edmonton Outlaws, Spruce Grove Slash, Calgary Sr. Raiders, Calgary Sr. Mountaineers and Calgary Knights.
